Custom Painted Signs – Rustic Wood Monogram
Last week I showed off my Sunshine Wood Sign. This week I wanted to share some of my Rustic Wood Monogram Family Name Signs. These are some of my favorite pieces to work on, because I just love how the wood tones show through. What really gives these signs that rustic feel, is the large initial in the background. The rustic wood monogram is actually done in a wood stain. The color of wood stain I choose is dependant upon what I want the background color of the sign to be. I like to choose colors that coordinate well with each other. Then the family name and established date are painted over in contrasting colors. I like to seal everything with a hand rubbed polyurethane, because it really enhances the wood grain and the distressing.
Please look for my upcoming post, where I put a little spin on the rustic wood monogram! I will be posting some special welcome baby signs that are just adorable!! Check back soon!!
If you are interested in purchasing a rustic wood monogram, or any custom painted wood sign, you can preview some of the made-to-order designs I currently have in my Etsy Shop.
You can also see some of my other Family Name Established Signs here.
Please note all of my Custom Painted Wood Signs are just that! I do not use stick-on vinyl lettering, everything is 100% painted my me!!

Your Signs are absolutely amazing. I loved going through them and wish you were in SA. They really are an inspiration.

Thank you!

What sort of finish do you use to make the woodgrain come through so well and with such sheen?
Sherri
I just use Minwax wood stain, followed by Minwax Polycrylic (wipe on)
